The Fred Astaire System
Fred Astaire Dance Studios has developed the most efficient system of teaching ballroom dancing in the world. There are numerous aspects of learning to dance such as patterns, footwork, timing and rhythm, partnership, animation, character of the dance, and confidence. To learn these qualities quickly, we have created a unique method of instruction called the "Conceptual Method of Teaching." You'll soon find out how this method will make dancing fun, enjoyable, easy, and faster to learn!
Conceptual Instruction Method
Material Lessons (group lessons) teach students the essentials of dancing: footwork, styles, balance, control, character, and technique. These lessons save students' time and money since this material can be taught in a group environment as quickly as it can in a private lesson. Group lessons also provide every student the opportunity to meet other students with similar dancing goals.
Development Lessons (private lessons) with two or more key teachers, provides each student with the specialized and personalized attention necessary. Skills acquired from the material lessons are further enhanced and developed by the students in order to gain more expression, confidence, animation, and personal style. By dancing the figures in various combinations in this lesson format, a higher degree of balance, control, rhythm, and coordination is also developed.
Practice Parties and Practice Sessions are an integral part of learning as much as materials and development lessons! Nothing will get you to a comfortable social dance level more quickly than regular Practice Partyattendance at our practice sessions. This is the ideal place for you to test your new dance steps with various partners and situations that occur on the dance floor. You will have fun dancing and gain new confidence by dancing with other students and teachers.
Additional Dancing Opportunities
Guest Parties are opportunities to introduce your friends to our studio family and to share with them the wonderful world of dancing. Although your friends are welcome at any time, they will receive a more appropriate welcome at the guest party.
Competitions held Regionally and Nationally, allow you to increase your dance skills, add more value to your lessons, compare yourself to other dancers at the same level, and watch leading professionals and champions perform dazzling exhibitions. held throughout the year, out competitions showcase the energetic and exciting world of Fred Astaire Dance Studios.
Showcases are held twice annually and provide you with Showcaseanother way to dance in the studio. Our exhibitions programs can be used in connection with any student programs. A theatrical routine will be choreographed for you to perform in front of other studio members and friends. This will help you create and form a "dance personality" and really allow you to express your personal style.
